graphite dreams

Filed under: art, comic books, daily life, design — ninetydegree @ 6:47 pm

I’ve been doing a lot of drawing these days. I’ve gotten back into working on a comic,(of which the first page is officially done),  I started doing some quick sketches of animals in order to get into that mind set for the calendar I’m working on with Tracy, and then there have just been the random times where I grab a sketchbook and head off to State Street and draw buildings, people, trees, or some such things. It makes me happy and it makes me wish i could spend even more time drawing than I already do. I would love to be paid to draw for a living. It would probably be a dream come true.

The fear of that is always when i hear form people that are artists for a living that while it’s a great job, it’s still a job.

There are always going to be days that you don’t want to go to work and instead go play in the sun, snow, rain, park, forest, or what ever trips your trigger. I accept that, I really do. I hate my job, I wake up every morning during the week and think about calling in. I never do. I might be a little more at ease if I did that from time to time but there are very few people I trust to get the job done while I’m away. It’s a personal flaw.

So for now I’ll be content do do my job and draw for fun and not for a living, for now.
