Saturday morning was a little rough. Friday night was a party at my Brother’s house for our friend Mike’s birthday so yet again the morning required stimulants. Really that’s every morning. I’m current;y trying to get away from my obsession with energy drinks. I drink a lot of Red Bull and seeing that it doesn’t really seem to have an effect I figure I should get away from them.
After years spent working in the food service industry I have a serious immunity to caffeine. I can drink coffee, soda, Red Bull, or what have you and it won’t result in jitters, shakes, or any other side effects of caffeinated beverages. I do however get the drawbacks for nearly debilitating headaches from a lack of caffeine. But I need to start weening myself off, possibly in the hopes that it my help with my insomnia.
It’s been a long weekend of getting my final two projects finished. The Annual Report for Nike kicked my ass. I thought the typing was never going to end. In the end I think it’s a pretty strong piece. I spent a good portion of today finishing the illustration for tomorrow; adding highlights some shadows and changing minor things to the composition. I’m pretty happy with it but it could still use some polish. Really it’s not much my style, I tend to be more graphic and flat in my color use than painterly. Eh, we’ll see what my instructor says tomorrow. Now back to watching the last bit of Star Wars and maybe catching up on the few episodes of Battlestar that I’ve missed this season. Also maybe putting a litle more thought into doing a weekly comic over my summer break…

I can relate on the caffeine issue after also having served my time with the food industry. If I keep track of my daily caffeine intake compared to my quality of sleep, there is an obvious correlation. I am down to 2-3 drinks a day, but I do worry about the day when I have to give it up. My body will probably retaliate with narcalpsy…I’ll be falling asleep all over the place.
